Sorry – the Butch Walker show at Maxwell’s is sold out, but you can see the same lineup on Wednesday. Rodeo-Ristra’s Coffee House Sundays features original music by Nectar. It’s open-mic night at Oddfellows Rest in Hoboken, hosted by Michael and Michelle, 8 p.m.
Monday, July 26:
Maxwell’s has Jesse Malin, touring in support of his new album The Heat, with The Damnwells, 9 p.m., $12. Rodeo-Ristra has music by Sabina and poetry by Sarah Detweiler at its Welcomed Words poetry open-mic night, 8 p.m. It’s happy hour all night at Oddfellows in Hoboken and Jersey City.
Tuesday, July 27:
Post-folk favorites The Samples play Maxwell’s at 9 p.m., $15. It’s Ski Club Night at Willie McBride’s, starting at 7 p.m. Oddfellows in Jersey City has karaoke starting at 9 p.m., fueled by an all-night beer special.
Wednesday, July 28:
Atlanta rocker Butch Walker plays Maxwell’s with American Hi-Fi and local guy Val Emmich, 8:30 p.m., $14. Gibney and Gore perform at The Goldhawk with Stand Up Hoboken, 9 p.m. The Green Rock has Pat Roddy from down the shore.
Thursday, July 29:
Maxwell’s has Ken Stringfellow (of The Posies and Big Star) and David Berkley, 9 p.m., $8 in advance, $10 day of show. Noel Smyth performs at The Goldhawk, 9 p.m. The Celtic Eamonn Ryan Band plays at P.J. Ryan’s.
Friday, July 30:
Atlanta R & B man Van Hunt plays at early show at Maxwell’s, 7:30 p.m., $10. Uncle Joe’s has The Mercy Rule, Sans Alabaster (featuring members of Rye Coalition), and The Union Ares. One-man classic-rock act Greg Aulden performs at the Baja in Jersey City starting at 6 p.m.
Saturday, July 31:
Virginia jammer Pat McGee plays Maxwell’s with Brian and Todd from the Pat McGee Band, 10 p.m., $15. AV Club, a three-piece power pop band from Connecticut, plays Uncle Joe’s with A Study in Her and Black Hole of Calcutta. DJ Tait spins at Rodeo-Ristra.
