Pilates/Gyrotonics…anyone!!! Pilates as an exercise has been making its way into mainstream body-building culture in recent years. However, to find someone who is experienced in the art isn’t always an easy task. Enter and meet Victoria Shore of Weehawken, who is a “certified Pilates and Gyrotonic Instructor” of the first order! Ms. Shore tells us that Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates of Germany, who as a sickly child formulated a combination of both Eastern and Western forms of exercise, of which included Yoga, Zen, along with ancient Grecian and Roman regimens. As for Gyrotonics, it was created by Juliu Horvath of Romania, and uses key principles of Gymnastics, Swimming, Kundalini Yoga, and Ballet. It works all the major muscle groups without bouncing or jumping. Ms. Shore is also CPR certified and is a member of the Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan, and is accomplished in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Theatre Dance. Shore is also a graduate of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, and has achieved their two-year certificate in their course of study! Alfred Orecchio of Weehawken and his lovely wife Giovanna are the new proud parents of a bouncing baby boy they named Joseph Alfredo, which also gives big sister Gianna the total joy of now having a younger brother!
