Brave New Yorker takes trip all the way to Hoboken

A columnist in the Daily News, Howard Kissel, writes today about a female friend of his who lives and blogs in Hoboken. Mr. Kissel, who has spent decades in New York City, had apparently never taken the $2.65 bus ride over to Hoboken until he visited his friend recently. Yes, people who live in one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world can often be quite short-sighted, can’t they?
Anyway, he visits his female friend, a writer who lives in Hoboken, and expresses an appreciation for a place that is quieter than bustling Manhattan. He tells his readers that Hoboken feels more like Brooklyn. (Of course, he was able to leave Manhattan to go to Brooklyn. Wonder how long that took?)
Kissel enjoys a steak sandwich at Helmer’s and notes that the bus ride from the Port Authority took a mere 15 minutes.
We hope he comes back for more, but please don’t tell your friends about this marvelous secret hideaway called Hoboken, or they might drive up our rents!!!

By the way, the female writer he’s referring to is Mary Lois Adshead. Here is her delightful blog, Finding Myself in Hoboken.
