Ms. Kristen Soehngen of Hoboken has won the $300 First Prize in the Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, it was announced by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. The winning essay is entitled “Fashionably Late: The Evolution of Intellectual Property Rights for Fashion Design in the United States.” First place winners at the local level will also be considered for one of three National Prizes ranging form $1,000 to $3,000. The recipients of these National Prizes will be selected by a panel of judges from the Copyright Society of the USA. Ms. Soehngen is a recent graduate of Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where she received the ABA-BNA Award for Excellence in Intellectual Property and was a member of the New York State Bar Association. She is the daughter of Donald and Mary Ann Soehngen of Sayreville, NJ.
