Jersey City will celebrate the 165th anniversary of Dominican independence with events on Tuesday, Feb. 24 and Wednesday, Feb. 25.
On Tuesday, a celebration ceremony will be held at Public School 4, 107 Bright Street, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Being honored at the ceremony is Passaic Mayor Dr. Alex Blanco, the first Dominican mayor elected in the United States and Dominican music stars Bonny and Richard Cepeda.
On Wednesday, a ceremony for the raising of the Dominican Republic flag will be held at City Hall, 280 Grove Street, from 5 – 7 p.m.
The events are open to the public. Sponsored by the Jersey City Juan Pablo Duarte Dominican Parade and Festival Board.
