BARKOVITZ, WALTER J

A funeral mass was offered March 19 at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church for Walter J. Barkovitz, 89, a Secaucus resident for over 50 years. He died March 15. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WW II. He was an X-Ray Technician for Pollak Hospital in Jersey City. For his entire life, Walter gave to his family his money, his time, his handy work and his quiet presence at family get-togethers, which he loved. He was devoted to his grandsons, Bobby and Brian, who both lived with him during their college years. They prevented him from getting “old.” He died with his family holding him and ushering him into eternal peace. He was the husband of the late Pearl Barkovitz; the father of Bob and his wife Jean; the grandfather of Brian and Bobby and his fiancé, Rebecca Cioffi; the brother of Rose Sailus and the late Carrie, Stella, Mary, Helen, Stanley and Joseph, and the uncle of many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus.
