Dear Editor:
On behalf of the Hoboken High School Harvard Model Congress team, we would like to thank the Hoboken Board of Education and all of the people of Hoboken for the once in a lifetime privilege to compete at the Harvard Model Congress 2009 San Francisco session.
When the competition began, each student took on the task of role playing by pretending to be an assigned senator or house member. Afterwards, each student was placed into a specific committee where they could compete to pass bills regarding real life and fabricated issues of foreign and domestic policy.
At the conference, we worked with students from around the nation. The competition has changed our lives, as we are better educated in government policy and how Congress reacts to problems of the world, foreign and domestic issues alike.
So thank you to everyone who has made this event possible. We deeply appreciate it.
Matthew Aquino,
Hoboken High Senior
