Congratulations, Nurse Nardone

To the Editor:
Congratulations to Mrs. Patricia Nardone, R.N. She is Teacher of the Year at Vroom School. School nurses are underappreciated, and overlooked so many times. They walk a delicate line between the student, and their parents/guardians.
The reward comes from a smile from the student, a glint in their eye, a nursing teaching moment that comes to fruition. A nurse never stops teaching, hopeful that an asthmatic will improve, a child’s broken heart will mend from the death of their pet, and a teenager resists social pressures. The list never ends. The concept of “just a Bandaid administer” fades when an emergency arises medically and the school nurse is first on the scene.
Thank you for recognizing how a nurse is a teacher. Vroom School should be commended for their keen observation.
It is great to see a nurse staying in the field with our litigious society. God bless you, Nurse Nardone, Teacher of the Year. You are an inspiration to all of us!
