Dear Editor:
We wanted to say thank you to all of the HoLa supporters who encouraged us to move forward with submission of a charter school application. It was an intense effort but we completed it! We hope that it will result in a new educational option for Hoboken families – one that is firmly based on research and more than two decades of successful practice in other districts across the country.
Our dedication over the past year to creating a dual language program in Hoboken represents an effort to create something truly unique in the district that will complement the current offerings and build on the positive momentum underway in public, charter and private schools alike.
We appreciate the vision of the current administration and the Board members who supported the introduction of a dual language program in Hoboken. Although the Board ultimately voted not to move forward with the HoLa program within the public schools, if our charter is approved we hope to maintain a collaborative relationship with the district in the common interest of excellent education for all of Hoboken’s children.
We remain committed to our original mission and goals: excellent academics, classrooms that represent our diverse community and the opportunity for children to become bilingual in an increasingly global society.
With the Board of Education elections on April 21st, we hope that you will support the candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to innovation, professionalism and productive discourse.
