Zimmer turned back on Church Towers

Dear Editor:
I have lived almost my entire life in Church Towers. I raised my family in this neighborhood and watched many of my neighbors raise their children, too. We moved here at a time when Hoboken was in tough shape. Many people were fleeing the city. There were terrible fires and crime was also a problem. But we decided to stay and so did many of the people who have become lifelong friends. That is why I want to thank the members of the City Council who decided to vote in favor of saving our homes.
I can’t understand why someone like Councilwoman Zimmer would have such dislike for the people who helped make Hoboken the city that she now “proudly” calls home. To turn your back on the people who built this community into the wonderful place it is today is wrong. What’s next, the Housing Authority and Marine View?
I’d also like to thank Councilwoman Mason for taking the time to cross the aisle and support the people of Church Towers. Doing the right thing may not always be popular with certain people but that is what a good leader does. Church Towers is a great neighborhood. I invite any of my fellow Hobokenites to take a walk through our part of town and see kids playing and seniors enjoying a conversation on a park bench. And you can always pick up a loaf of bread at Dominic’s Bakery across the street!

Sincerely,
Danielle Cecala
