Disturbed by Healy and his Yes Men

Dear Editor:

As a lifelong resident of Jersey City, I am deeply disturbed by the political campaign nonsense being sold to us by Mayor Healy and his merry chorus of Yes Men. Do they really believe voters can’t see the cynicism and double-dipping being peddled? Even the new faces added this election to team Healy — “new” being a relative term, considering the recycled résumés and family ties everyone there seems to have — are worrying, most especially Guy Catrillo in Ward E. “Hello, I’m a rubber stamp.”
Isn’t there a law against a Councilperson working for City Hall? [Guess those independent, “autonomous” agencies are miraculously exempt, somehow?] If that’s the case, Mr. Catrillo will need a new day job, if he is unfortunately elected, because he now works directly for the Mayor. Oops, how embarrassing. Hope the Mayor can pull some strings and find his latest puppet fresh employment on the Hudson County payroll. Oh, wait, collecting two government paychecks — and two pensions — that’s a perk for Municipal Council members, right? At our expense, it is.
Since Mr. Catrillo doesn’t actually have much public service to run on, his comments to the press will have to substitute as a record to consider. But how is it that he implies being a college graduate, of New York University, when instead he apparently attended that prestigious school? And although many talented and very successful people didn’t graduate from college, that Mr. Catrillo starts something without finishing would seems to be a worrisome trait for an aspiring candidate. As would fibbing.
Pinocchio danced on a string. My concern for Mr. Catrillo is he will, too. Keeping in mind the Mayor’s absurd campaign slogan, the only change I want to see is for voters to open their eyes, and say “No” to the Yes Men. The backroom boys have brought ruin to our city’s finances, and filth to our streets. Shinola it ain’t.
The real deal in Ward E? Steven Fulop. Independent. Proven. A leader.

Yours Sincerely,

Marie Tauro
