Funeral services will be held May 6 at the Hudson Vineyard Church, North Bergen, for Catherine Haviland, 75, of North Bergen. She passed away April 24 at the Hoboken University Medical Center. Born in Manhattan, she retired three years ago and had been an English teacher for No. 1 School in West New York for 30 years. She was a Hudson County Democratic Committee Woman for North Bergen Ward 3 District 5, a past president for the West New York federation of teachers union and a board member for the Federal Credit Union in Jersey City. She was the wife of the late John C. Haviland; the mother of John, Ken, George and Paul; the sister of James Lyons; the grandmother of Dylon, Julia and Caroline.
