Dear Editor:
I have lived in Downtown Jersey City for thirty years. During this time, I have seen many changes in my neighborhood. Most of the improvements have occurred in the last five years
Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, has delivered on many campaign promises in Downtown. There are many good, positive changes I can see. Our streets are paved, J. Owen Grundy park has been renovated, new businesses are opening and downtown looks great.
All of these things have happened, despite the current Downtown Councilman’s urge to criticize and cast negative judgement on our Mayor. Instead of uniting us, he is dividing us. Enough is enough.
In order for progress to continue in our neighborhood, we need a change in representation for Downtown Council. We need a Councilman that works with Mayor Healy and his team to continue the progress.
I have known and have come to respect Guy Catrillo over my thirty years in this city. Guy works with all community members, no matter their culture, race or economic status. I know, first hand, that he has volunteered to aide the Pakistani Community and other cultural and community groups to better our neighborhoods and deliver changes we can see.
We need a team, working to unite this city, improve its infrastructure and insure that no one is left behind in the process. That is why I urge you to join me in support of Mayor Healy and the entire 2009 Healy Team. Most especially, for my neighbors in Downtown, I encourage you to support the Mayor’s choice, Guy Catrillo, for Downtown Council.
On May 12th, vote Team Healy, the Team that Delivers Changes You Can See!
Sincerely,
Shafqat R. Khan
