Union City Mayor Brian Stack’s former secretary filed a lawsuit against him on April 13 claiming her employment was unlawfully terminated due to her personal affiliations with her boss’s political enemies.
Francia Forrester worked for Stack since 2004, first as his private secretary, then later, in 2008, as a legislative aide for Stack as a state senator. She also had been previously hired as a freeholder’s aide.
While employed by Stack, Forrester tried to keep her personal affiliation with Francisco Nunez to herself, because he was someone who, according to the suit, she knew “Stack harbored a deep hatred for.” But she was later confronted about this relationship and her affiliation with someone else close to Nunez, she said.
In addition, a fax accusing Stack of illegal actions was addressed to an area newspaper, but the mayor’s office somehow got a copy. In the suit, Forrester claims she was questioned by someone in City Hall about whether she was leaking information and what she would say if asked about the content of the fax. Forrester responded that she would not lie.
She later received a letter dated Feb. 18 that her employment had been terminated.
