Former Ward E Councilman Junior Maldonado proudly endorses Team Healy and Guy Catrillo for Ward E Council

Dear Editor:

As a former Councilman in Ward E, I can tell you that the needs of Downtown are vast. Small business owners everywhere are struggling in this economic climate to survive. Homeowners, seniors and artists, who contribute greatly to our Downtown community, also struggle to survive in this economic climate as well.
What we need in this atmosphere is a unifier, someone who understands the needs of our community-at-large.
I am pleased to see that Guy Catrillo has joined Team Healy. As a lifetime resident, Guy understands and lived through the difficult years in Downtown. Our community has definitely changed for the better in Guy’s lifetime. However, Guy knows that the thing needed most of all is unity. Guy Catrillo is the right choice for Downtown; he’s an individual who will work in concert with his colleagues to represent our needs.
Team Healy, along with Guy Catrillo, will work to unify our community and find solutions to our problems. The Healy Team has been working hard to produce ‘Change We Can See.’ Mayor Healy has delivered on many campaign promises to Downtown including the renovation of J. Owen Grundy Pier and the renovation of Historic City Hall Council Chambers.
The Healy Administration has also provided Ward E with the most aggressive street paving program I’ve seen in years. Park renovations, overall, are underway. A new dog run in Van Vorst Park, a renovated Grove Street Plaza, and upcoming improvements to Hamilton Park are all Healy Administration initiatives.
Mayor Healy knows our needs; without much fanfare, he’s delivering on his promises. Our current Councilman would like to take credit for the above accomplishments, but I know the truth. The truth is one dissenting voice on the City Council certainly gets press coverage, but ultimately it alienates the very people you need to work with to get things done. I don’t want division in my Downtown. I want to continue to witness ‘Changes I Can See,’ for the betterment of our community. That is why I am supporting Team Healy and Guy Catrillo for Downtown Council. Please join me.

Sincerely,
E. Junior Maldonado
Former Ward E Councilman
