SAVINO, ANNA PAPORELLO

A funeral mass was offered May 2 at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus, for Anna Paporello Savino, 93. She died peacefully April 27. She lived her early years in West Hoboken, now called Union City. She met and married Michael Savino in 1933 and enjoyed 69 wonderful years as his wife. Anna loved being a homemaker and a devoted mother to their sons, Robert and Vincent. Anna and Mike lived in North Bergen for more than 40 years and moved to Secaucus in 1995, into the Savino family home on Centre Avenue, to be closer to Michael’s business, “Mike’s Garage”. Sunday dinners and festive holidays were a real treat for her family in her homes in North Bergen and in Secaucus. Anna was a fabulous baker, crocheted beautifully, and shared generously. Some of her favorite pastimes were spent with her sister and friends window-shopping, lunching, and socializing on Bergenline Avenue. Anna moved back to North Bergen in 2006 to enjoy her final years in Fritz Reuter Altenheim on Kennedy Boulevard. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Mike; her sisters, Helen Eli and Charlotte Popp and their husbands; her brothers, Louis and Ernest and their wives. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Claire, of West Long Branch; Vincent and Patricia, of Lincoln Park; her brother-in-law, Frank, of Secaucus; her five grandchildren, Michael, Steven, and Mark Savino, Katherine Tew, and Stacey Miller; her 11 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew, Jason, Austin, Abigail, Art, Melissa, Hallie, Elissa, Alexander, and Wesley; her two great great-grandchildren, Sophia and Isabelle; her 12 nieces and nephews; her four cousins, and numerous friends.
