Success of the Hoboken Arts & Music Festival

Dear Editor:
Sunday I had the pleasure of attending the Hoboken Arts & Music Festival. Despite the rain, the event still went on. Most of the vendors set up their tents, the music was rocking and the public still attended, walking along Washington Street with their umbrellas so as not to miss out. Even in the rain, the event was a success. The Box tops made me feel like I was 15 all over again. Working tirelessly behind the scenes and never getting enough credit for all the work she does is Geri Fallo, who runs the Division of Cultural Affairs for the City of Hoboken.
I want to commend her for a job well done and all she has done for the city over the years. Not only does she produce this fabulous festival in Hoboken twice every year, which I have heard in my travels to be one of the best in the state, but also countless other free cultural activities for the residents of Hoboken including weekly summer concerts, an outdoor Movies series, family fun events, artist’s studio tour, harvest festival and so much more.
And from my years of being on the city council, I know she actually raises all the money for these events either through vendor fees from the festival, sponsorship from local merchants or state grants. She is an asset to the city and deserves praise.
Certainly she does not work alone and receives support from City Directors, other city departments, part-time staff and volunteers. They should also be commended for their hard work. Great things are
produced by their efforts.
These events should be nurtured, preserved and supported. They add to the cultural landscape that makes Hoboken such a great and delightful place to live.

Regards,
Michael T. Cricco
