Response to Florence Lazarov

To the Editor:
In a letter to the editor in the May 6 issue, Florence Lazarov states, “…this city can unabashedly spend a ‘gazillion’ dollars to ‘mend’ tennis courts and to close libraries…”
That is simply not correct. The County of Hudson, which operates Stephen R. Gregg Bayonne County Park, is handling the replacement of tennis courts at that county facility. There are no municipal funds involved in that county project.
The City of Bayonne has nothing to do with providing the budget for the county’s tennis court project. The two Bayonne branch libraries that were closed were funded from the municipal budget, not the county budget. The reconstruction of the county tennis courts and the closing of municipal library branches have nothing to do with each other.
