At last, the perceived ‘reformers’ of Hoboken politics have come together. After a nasty election battle leading up to this past May 12, former mayoral candidate Beth Mason held a surprise press conference Tuesday afternoon to endorse fellow council member Dawn Zimmer for mayor.
The election will be held June 9. Zimmer faces another councilperson, young attorney Peter Cammarano, in the runoff that day.
While a handful of Zimmer’s and Mason’s supporters have engaged in an angry war of words in the past, it seems like she has chosen her over Cammarano.
Mason also chose to endorse Zimmer’s most visible running mate – candidate for council-at-large Ravi Bhalla, a local attorney.
However, rather than endorse Zimmer’s other running mates, Carol Marsh (a former vice president of the HCDO, a political organization that Mason has criticized) and Dave Mello, Mason endorsed two of her own runningmates who made the runoff: Vincent Addeo and Raul Morales.
