To the Editor:
Last Tuesday, the citizens of Hoboken voted to give me, and my entire team of Carol Marsh, Ravi Bhalla and Dave Mello the opportunity to participate in the June 9th run off election for Mayor and City Council. I want to congratulate Councilman Cammarano, Vinnie Addio, Raul Morales Jr. and Angel Alicea for their achievement as well. My slate and I offer the people of Hoboken a clear choice between real change or just continuing the status quo, and I look forward to a vigorous discussion over the competing visions for Hoboken’s future.
I want to thank all of the candidates for their participation in the process. Councilwoman Mason, Tom Vincent, Frank Orsini and Ryn Melberg all contributed excellent ideas to the discussion, and I hope that they continue to make their valuable voices heard.
I am proud that the Zimmer team ran a positive issue based campaign, and didn’t resort to the unfortunate tactics that some believe are necessary to win a Hudson County election. The May 12th election results demonstrate that there is a better way, and that Hoboken is ready to make a clean break from the dirty politics and financial mismanagement of the last 16 years.
There are far too many people to thank in the short space allotted for this letter, but we could not have succeeded without the grass roots support of so many Hoboken families and concerned residents. On Election Day, there were seniors, moms, dads, children, single people, and even dogs wearing our green t- shirts working for change.
Thank you all, and please get out and vote again on June 9th.
Dawn Zimmer
4th Ward Councilwoman & Mayoral Candidate
