COSENZA, MOTHER ROSE

A Liturgy of Christian Burial was offered on June 15 at St. Joseph Chapel, Parsippany, for Mother Rose Cosenza, 78. She passed away June 11, after an extended illness, at Christ Hospital, Jersey City. Mother was born in Carbonara di Nola, Italy. She entered the Franciscan Sisters of St. Elizabeth in 1948 and made her First Profession in Piano di Sorrento, Italy on September 8, 1950. After completing her formation and studies Mother came to America in May 1957. Mother Rose’s first assignment was at Holy Rosary Nursery School in Newark, from 1957 to 1958. In 1958, Mother was transferred to Holy Family Nursery School in Nutley where she dedicated her service for 14 years. From 1972 to 1978 she taught at St. Elizabeth Nursery and Montessori School in Parsippany. Mother then went back to teach again for another six years at Holy Family Nursery School in Nutley from 1978 to 1984. Beginning in 1984, she dedicated the next 25 years to the children of St. Elizabeth’s Child Care Center in Jersey City. Mother is survived by a sister, Chiara Caraccilo; two brothers, Domenico and Nicola; nieces and nephews who are living in Italy and N.J. Services arranged by the Par-Troy Funeral Home, Parsippany.
