HARRIS, CEDRIC A

Funeral services were held July 1 at the Claremont Lafayette United Presbyterian Church for Cedric A. “Mickey” Harris. He died on June 25 at Jersey City Medical Center. Cedric was born in St. Johns, Antigua to Ivan Harris and Audrey Hughes. Mickey was a chef in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and upstate New York. After being badly burned he retired from the Culinary Arts. Mickey trained as an AVH technician, and was employed at Jersey City Medical Center for over 30 years. He settled in Jersey City with his family. He was a member of Claremont Lafayette United Presbyterian Church, where he served on the Deacon Board and Men’s Choir. Cedric was married to Violet Whyatt Harris, and from their union three children were born: Dugmoore (deceased), Ronell and Andrea. Surviving to cherish Cedric’s memory are his daughters, Ronell and Andrea; his companion Carrie Slade; his stepdaughters Ovett and Kimberly; his siblings Charlesworth, Elieth, David, Geneodell, Paulette, and Donnalee; his grandchildren; Pierre, Jai-Shen, Christine, Monet, Andrew, James Jr., Bijan, Jayla, and Elijah; his step-grandchildren Brian, Phillip Jr., Nataha and Jordan, the great grandchildren of Delante, Pierre Jr. and Mackenzie; his former wife Violet Harris, and a daughter in law Milagros. Services arranged by the Jackson Funeral Residence, Jersey City.
