High Tech High School class of 2009 receives diplomas

The 2009 senior class of High Tech High School, composed of 146 students, graduated at the Arthur F. Couch Performing Arts Center at Secaucus High School on June 25. High Tech is a countywide public high school based in North Bergen.
It was Principal Karol Brancato’s last graduation before her retirement this year. She has served as principal since the school opened in 1999.

Ninety seven percent will go on to college.

Out of the graduating class, 97 percent of the students will move on to four-year colleges and universities. Eleven of the graduates were Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars, while two received gold and silver medals at the Hudson County Science Fair. One student earned the PSE&G Green Scholarship, while another earned a Project SEED scholarship.
Last year, the Lasercats finished the softball season at 15-2, made the All-County Team and become State District Champions. High Tech’s soccer and bowling teams also were on All-County lists.
High Tech’s athletic program’s .800 winning percentage placed them in the top Group I programs for the state this year.
