Braddock Park needs more police

Dear Editor:
Last week’s front page article, UHOH was very well done and the reason for this letter.
Braddock Park has seen changes and improvements over the years and more are coming.
To a certain age group and gender this is truly a dream come true, while the other ages and the other gender should find this a disappointment.
There is a major concern that if not remedied quickly, will become worse next year.
There is a lack of Hudson County Sheriff’s Department presence in JJ Braddock Park. Fewer patrol cars and less bicycle police. WHERE HAVE THEY GONE?
Soccer balls fly all over. The current passive and non regulated games are all over the landscaped grounds. No Police, No parking, No serenity, No safety. Other serious incidents occur but without police presence goes unreported. CAN we urge the Sheriff to increase police protection before a tragedy takes place? If Braddock Parks Sheriff’s Department earns a reputation for being tough (on crime) before the 1,500 seat stadium is occupied (by exuberant, excitable soccer fans who will take their emotions into the surrounding community after the game) all of us will be better served and protected.
Just think: 1,500 soccer fans leaving the stadium at the same time and dispersing into the neighborhood. Who will protect us?

Signed,
A Concerned Woodcliff Resident
