At a noon press conference today, an assistant U.S. attorney drew attention to recently elected — and recently arrested — Hoboken mayor Peter Cammarano’s remarks as quoted in an FBI report.
The attorney specifically drew attention to Cammarano’s comment, reported by the Hoboken Reporter in our previous breaking news item, that even if he were indicted, he’d still get 85 percent of the Italian, Hispanic and senior citizen votes.
Cammarano also said, according to the FBI, that after the election, the people who weren’t with him would get “ground into powder.”
In related news, Cammarano, 32, an active user of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, has not posted any updates today. His last Twitter update from last night, his birthday, read: “I would like to thank everyone today for the birthday wishes, hope everyone had a great time at the opening night for St. Ann’s feast.”
On Facebook, a friend left him a note three hours ago:
“What’s going on? FBI? Federal investigation? At least they waited until after your birthday was over with.”
