REPORTER EXCLUSIVE: Two other prominent Hudson County politicians were offered cash…

Very reliable political sources have just confirmed for the Reporter that six months ago, two prominent Jewish religious leaders approached two Hudson County politicians — a mayor and someone higher up — and offered them cash donations for their campaigns. In those cases, both politicians turned down the offers, saying they don’t take cash and smelling something suspicious.
Speculation is that the FBI, as part of the sting, may have had information about the religious leaders and in turn used them to try to implicate various area politicians regarding campaign donations. Thus, those implicated in this scandal may have been approached the same way.
In related news, among the 30 people arrested appears to be a Jersey City fire superior and a health official.
This is in addition to the arrests of new Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano (Cammarano is pictured at his July 1 inauguration taking the oath of office), Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, and a female Jersey City deputy mayor.
