Gov. Jon Corzine signed an executive order asking the state to suspend any state development applications from cities where the “sitting governor” has been charged with corruption.
Since the mayors of Hoboken and Secaucus — but not Ridgefield — have already resigned, the question is, does that apply to these towns?
Reuters didn’t think so, but a North Jersey blog does. Newsroom Jersey says:
“Gov. Jon Corzine Monday signed an executive order requiring the immediate suspension of any pending applications for state approval of development projects in a city or town where the sitting mayor has been charged with public corruption.
“The order affects Ridgefield where Mayor Anthony Suarez (photo) has refused to resign after being charged by the New Jersey U.S. attorney’s office with allegedly accepting a $10,000 bribe from a developer who was serving as a frontman in a bribery sting.
“It also affects Hoboken and Secaucus.”
Really? We’ll find out.
