The Wicked Riders captured the regular season championship as they posted a perfect 17- 0 record in the Bayonne Recreation Co-Ed Softball League. The Riders defeated the Underdawgs by a score of 15 to 6 in their final game of the regular season.
The Riders trailed 2-1entering the second inning but tallied five runs to take a 6-2 lead. Timmy Yurchak led the inning off with a homerun, Kerri Hillinski singled, Travis Bilak doubled in a run, Desiree DiGenio singled, Anthony Oszmanski tripled in two runs and came home on Anthony Yurchak’s sacrifice fly.
The winners pushed across four more runs in the fifth inning to provide a comfortable 11 – 3 lead. Anthony Yurchak hit a solo homer, Melissa Rosa singled, Frankie Ajosa doubled and both came home on Timmy Yurchak’s double, who later scored on Bilak’s single.
Brothers Anthony and Timmy Yurchak, Ajosa and Oszmanski each had three hits for the Riders, while Hillinski and Bilak had two hits each. Jennifer Bilak and Megan Lissenden sparkled defensively for the winners.
Al Diaz stroked two homeruns for the Underdawgs.
