Dear Editor:
On behalf of my Chairwoman Jean Rodriguez and Board of Commissioners, as the Executive Director of the Hoboken Housing Authority, we commend and applaud the outstanding job performed on National Night Out by Police Chief Anthony Falco and the Hoboken Police Department. The planning, organization and implementation of this Event produced educational activities, enlightening resources were offered and fun exercises with other Agencies’ demos like Rock Climbing from the U.S. Army, Exhibition of State of the Art X-Ray Equipment provided by the U.S. Customs Department, and Hudson County Prosecutor Ed DeFazio’s Office of Victim’s Crime Unit, to name a few, who were raising awareness and sharing resourceful tools in the Fight Against Crime.
I salute Officers James Barbro and William Oquendo who were assigned the task of putting it all together; Captains Garcia, Fitzsimmons and Romano who were in attendance, Lieutenant Ferrante, Sergeant Marnell, Sergeant Iapicca, and the CPOP Unit – ALL were instrumental in providing the ONLY NATIONAL NIGHT ON THE WEST SIDE OF TOWN. Special acknowledgement to Officers Joe Cahill, William James, Anthony Feskin, and Joseph Mezzina for educating our Children on the safety of wearing helmets and giving them free helmets for their protection. A special “Thank You” to Fire Chief Richard Blohm and the Hoboken Fire Department together with Captain Molta of the Hoboken Ambulance Corps as their Men and Women once again, provided excellent demonstrations of First Responders during an Emergency. My Staff, who did the grilling to supply food and drinks for the families in attendance. The children were educated and engaged in learning more about Public Safety and the effectiveness of Community Policing. Our Residents were pleased that the Hoboken Agencies showed their concern for bettering their Quality of Life and hope that this commitment continues to help our children in a positive way for more than just one night.
Thanks to Mayor Zimmer, State Monitor Judy Tripodi, Public Safety Director Angel Alicea, and the other Council Members who contributed to the event.
Once again, thank you all and your staff members who did an amazing job. This, by far, was probably the BEST NATIONAL NIGHT OUT. We look forward to next year. God Bless and let’s keep Hoboken a Safe, Integrated, United and Caring Community!
Sincerely,
Carmelo G. Garcia
