Freeholder Bill O’Dea has asked for a report on the policy that may train Hudson County Sheriff’s Department officers as immigration agents.
O’Dea said he was not aware of the policy and has asked Hudson County Administrator for a report be sent to Public Safety Committee Chairman Anthony Romano.
According to a newspaper article yesterday (see our homepage), the Hudson County sheriff’s departments is among 79 departments nationwide that have been accepted into a program that would train them to help out immigration agents.
County officials were apparently taken by surprise.
