ECHEVARRIA, RAMONA ZENAIDA

A memorial service was held Sept. 15 for Ramona Zenaida Echevarria, 79. She died in her sleep at her home in Guttenberg on Sept. 14 of Sarcoidosis of the lungs. Zenaida was born in Matanzas, Cuba the second youngest of ten children born of Prudencio Sanchez and Juana Peñate. As a young woman, Zenaida was a teacher at a small academy in Cardenas, Cuba. She married in 1959 and gave birth to three children and suffered the loss of her first child at birth. She was married to Fermin Echevarria for 50 years and was widowed in March 2005. She was a devoted Catholic and a very spiritual person. She was a wonderful mother and wife who dedicated her life to her family and children. She is survived by her two children, Mario Echevarria and Beatriz Manzano and four grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, Mario Antonio and Katya. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. She had a witty sense of humor and always made any situation seem pleasant and calm. She had a holy aura about her and was always filled with optimism. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter and friend. Zenaida was known for her kindness and loving heart. Services arranged by the Morgado Funeral Home, Union City.
