‘I will continue to serve the public as councilman’

To the Editor:
Recently, I have been berated by an individual at a council meeting and another in the newspaper. Due to this incessant smearing of my name, I can only set the record straight. There are many facts and details that are facts and details that people don’t know. The main facts are that the state did an investigation, and I, just like other aides questioned, was not charged with any criminal violation. No charges, zero, none!
Let’s be honest. This is an administrative ploy to smear my name because I have been very outspoken and critical about our government. Most of the time, I am the only one who speaks his mind.
The people of Bayonne are smart and know me for the honest, hard working, family man that I am. They are not fooled by the smear tactics being used to try to ruin my name and reputation.
We believe in a democratic society. Our democracy has laws and courts to judge people by. They don’t use a couple of individuals biased and administratively controlled judgment. Next time, get your facts correct. There was no act of criminality done on my part, as determined by the state.
The good people of Bayonne need someone to honestly evaluate and govern our city without apprehension or administrative controls. I would never let the people who have so much faith in me down, and I will continue to serve the public as councilman of the Third Ward.

GARY LA PELUSA SR.
Third Ward Councilman
City of Bayonne
