The New York Times has picked up on the story of the U2 concert-goers who got stuck on trains heading to the concert, trying a new route through the Meadowlands region and the Secaucus Junction train station. the paper reports:
“Forced to navigate a new route to the Meadowlands, some concertgoers spent hours waiting in lines both getting to the show and then heading home. After Wednesday night’s U2 show, The Star-Ledger described “chaos,” NBCNewYork.com quoted one woman venting about the pushing and shoving in lines as people struggled to figure out what one Gothamist reader called an ‘incredibly disorganized’ new system.
“The reason for the mass confusion and delays: NJ Transit wasn’t running buses between the Meadowlands and the Port Authority, so concertgoers lacking cars had to make their way to the Frank R. Lautenberg Secaucus Junction and transfer to trains there. And it seems the transit and stadium authorities underestimated how many people would take the trains. A sold-out AC/DC concert in July went more smoothly, according to The Star-Ledger.”
