Here’s everything you wanted to know about art, without having to venture out of town.
Jersey City’s Artists Studio Tour will return for a two-day weekend (Oct. 3 and 4), turning the city on the west bank of the Hudson into a cultural destination par excellence.
Now in its 19th year, the tour will feature an estimated 600 artists displaying their works of all shapes and sizes in locations around the city.

Art, art and more art
There are plenty of highlights during the tour for the public to enjoy, including:
• 150 Bay St. has a variety of individual studios and group shows, including “Exquisite Corpse,” curated by Tina Maneca and featuring the work over 50 artists in a collaborative installation.
• 140 Bay St. highlights include new work by painter Kirk Bray as well as the opening of the building’s new art space “The Warehouse.”
• The Morgan Industrial Center, 350 Warren St., returns to the studio tour with curator Dylan Evans & property owner Bob Lehrer’s colossal mural project “Raw Power, The Morgen Grand Mural.” Features murals by dozens of street artists from across the USA, on-site painting during the tour, and artist displays in the building’s parking lot.
• Jim Pustorino of Victory Arts Projects curates “Conversations in the Sunken Gardens” a showcase for sculpture at the Mack Cali Atrium, featuring a dozen artists including Arcady Kotler, Maggie Ens, and Carol Schwartz.
• The Westin Hotel joins the tour for the first time as a venue, providing their common areas as community space for exhibiting artists. The Westin also features a great in-house art collection which includes printmaker Tomomi Ono and other Jersey City artists.
• Newport Mall provides exhibition space for Eric Sophie’s eclectic group exhibition that features over a dozen artists as well as the Legomaster himself. Located in the Underground Station, Level 1, in the Sears wing.
• Lex Leonard Gallery, 143 Christopher Columbus Drive, hosts two group shows, including the JCLGO “Vital Voices” group show on the second floor, curated by Miguel Cardenas.
• City Hall celebrates Hispanic Heritage with a group show of painting and sculpture curated by filmmaker Christina Soto.
• Hudson County Art Supply is a major tour stop with its already famous/infamous Ron English, Bigfoot, and Jason Maloney street mural.
• LITM exhibits airbrush artist Ruler in the group show “99 Ways to Die” and 9 Lives Skate Shop opens up as a tour venue with “Board to Live.”
• 58 Gallery, 58 Coles St., features “Masks of God” curated by Brenda Buck and Grant Worth. “Masks of God” explores the spirit that lies beneath the surface of each creation.”
• There are many open studios to choose from, including Dyan Egon’s “Garage Sale” at 247 Barrow St., and Habib Ayat’s “Art for Life” at 360 Marin Blvd.
• Curious Matter offer “NYKTOMORPH,” another meticulously curated and mysterious show put together by JC art duo Raymond Mingst and Arthur Bruso.
• Art House Productions, 1 McWilliams Place, presents a big group show of heavy hitters called inventionReinvention.
• Diane Fleming and the Pershing Field Arts group curate another big group exhibition of Heights artists.
• The Beacon returns as a tour venue featuring over 20 painters, photographers, and ceramics artists in an incredible fifth floor condo display space.
