SECAUCUS — In an unusual twist, a 12-year-old boy reportedly called 911 while in the back seat of a car that was heading down the New Jersey Turnpike on Sunday evening, near Secaucus. He called to report that his mother was sick in the passenger’s seat of the car, according to the Star-Ledger. However, when police arrived to find the Land Rover at the side of the road, they charged the driver, a man named Jabbar Singh, 40, with driving while under the influence and with hindering apprehension. He allegedly gave police a false name at first, according to the article.
The mother, an Edgewater resident, was vomiting and was taken to a hospital in Newark.
The boy was released to the custody of his aunt, and Singh was to be released into the custody of a licensed driver, according to the article.
