Bueckner and running mates deserve to be elected

Dear Editor:
Many people in Secaucus know John Bueckner from his years of service as a baseball and softball coach on the Board of Education as well as his activities with the school at St. Mathew’s.
The people of the Second Ward know he has served them very well as their councilman for 16 years. They are aware he was the “voice in the wilderness” when as a minority member he could not even get agreement from the majority Democrats to discuss some of the ideas he was proposing. Interesting that in the past few months these members voted yes and support his proposals, such as establishing a finance committee and instituting a stronger pay to play ordinance. Had these concepts been in place when he originally suggested them, perhaps our reputation would not be tarnished.
We have known John for many years and can testify to his honesty and concern for the people of Secaucus.
Some of the initiative he is considering may require more than the usual simple majority vote of the council. Therefore, it is important that his running mates Rob Costantino and Bill McKeever are also elected in their wards to help John and Mike Gonnelli reestablish the reputation of Secaucus.
