I defend Sean Connors

Dear Editor:
I am taking this opportunity to well, in a way defend Sean Connors. Mr. Connors may or may not know me but I feel that he is very much deserving of this applause. Mr. Connors from what I know lives in the Heights section but goes into several different neighborhoods to volunteer his limited financial support with little leagues, soccer teams and so on. He gives his hands on help to the various festivals and community block association events. He further loves helping our seniors and the children of Jersey City. I’m sure that there are many more things that he does that people do not see. My grandmother has his picture on her refrigerator and speaks so highly of him. In my eyes, Mr. Connors is a total community person that gives way more than he receives!

I have taken this time to write about Mr. Connors because of the following: In recent weeks I have read two separate opinion letters from a Frank Scalcione who was critical of Mr. Connors. After sitting back, I finally said let me see who this guy Frank Scalcione is. Mr. Scalcione is the owner of Frank’s Famous Pizza on Monmouth Street. He has owned this pizza parlor for well over 15 years now and also owns several buildings in the area. I then looked into if Mr. Scalcione ever gives back to the community which he became wealthy from. You know what? I could not find “one thing” that Mr. Scalcione contributes to. Not one! Here is a man who has probably made well over $200,000 dollars a year between his restaurant and the property’s that he receives rental income from, yet never supports the community. I also found out that he ran for councilman recently on the Harvey Smith ticket. Reviewing the results of the 2009 municipal election, I can see why Mr. Scalcione did so poorly.

Thank you Mr. Connors and please do not let the opinion of a man who contributes nothing to his neighborhood hold you back! Please continue helping us here in Jersey City. We need more people like Mr. Connors serving in our government!
