Healthcare for children

Dear Editor:
I am writing to share good news regarding a bill that I sponsored, which was later signed into law. Specifically, Assembly Bill A2624, which made healthcare for children mandatory, has provided for the enrollment of more than 12,000 children in the past four months in the state’s subsidized health insurance program which is known as New Jersey Family Care, bringing the total number of children covered up to 600,000.
This increase shows promise for our State as more children receive health coverage. Furthermore, such medical coverage is important as we look toward the colder months and many concerns exist regarding various strains of the flu virus, and access to healthcare will be paramount to the quality of life for children.
This particular plan is an important step for New Jersey as healthcare remains a recurring topic in the news while our federal government examines prospective solutions to our national healthcare system.
In the coming months, I encourage families to ensure that their children have access to adequate medical coverage. If your child is uninsured and you are seeking to acquire medical insurance, please do not hesitate to contact my office to inquire about enrolling them in this program. Nothing should get in the way of a healthy child.

Sincerely,
Ruben J. Ramos, Jr.
Assemblyman
