CELAURO, ANNA

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 24 at St. Joseph’s Church, Jersey City for Anna Celauro, 97. She died peacefully at her home in Jersey City on Oct. 20. Anna was a life-long resident of Jersey City and attended the Jersey City public schools. She was a Hudson County worker until retiring at the age of 65. She and her husband were active in local politics in the 1950s, serving as committee woman and committee man respectively. She worked actively with her brother, the late Joseph Buccafusco, who was a ward leader under John V. Kenny. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Celauro. She is survived by her three children: Joseph of Robbinsville, N.J., the retired principal of Ridgefield Park High School; Catherine Parry of Kingwood, Texas, retired Christ Hospital Nurse; and Geraldine, retired Jersey City Medical Center senior laboratory technician, with whom she lived. She has one granddaughter, Lisa Cauble, of Martindale, Texas and one great-grandson, William Cauble, also of Martindale, Texas. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Antoinette Dinardo, of Teaneck, N.J., Angelina Scerbo, of Wareham, Mass., and two brothers, Salvatore Buccafusco of Belmar, N.J. and Anthony Buccafusco, of Middletown, N.J. She was predeceased by her brothers, the late Vincent, Joseph and Dominick Buccafusco and her sisters, Victoria Petronico, Mary and Philomena Buccafusco. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
