A time to say ‘thank you’

To the Editor:
On behalf of the Bayonne Columbus Committee, I would like to thank everyone who helped make our annual Columbus Day Parade a wonderful and memorable event.
This day could not have been possible without the help of so many people. We would like to give special thanks:
To all the members of the Bayonne community who support our ad journals and all our fundraising events year round, making this day possible. To Mayor Mark Smith, the Municipal Council Members, State and County officials, and Father Joseph Barbone for their continued support. To all our past and present honorees and their families for their assistance throughout the year. To the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic War Veterans, all the marching bands and dance groups, and all the contingents from our community organizations. To Dr. Patricia McGeehan and the Bayonne Board of Education for the participation of the school system, complete with students, staff, mascots and cheerleaders. To the members of the Bayonne Police Department, Fire Department and Canteen, Sheriff Juan Perez and the Hudson County Sheriffs office, IMTT Fire Department and McCabe’s Ambulance. To the Department of Public Works and the MUA. To Cablevision; “The Jersey Journal” and the “Bayonne Community News.” To our parade announcers, Ben Costanza and Neil DeSena. To the Bayonne Chapter of UNICO. To George Merino for all that he does for us. To everyone who came out to watch and cheer!
To the members of the Bayonne Columbus Committee and their families for their hard work and dedication without which this day could not be possible.
Everyone involved showed pride in our community, pride in our Italian and American Heritage, and worked together to make this a meaningful event for the people of the City of Bayonne. We look forward to next year when we celebrate our 31st anniversary.
