HUDSON COUNTY–North Bergen Police confirmed that a 28-year-old male from Jersey City allegedly committed suicide at the Comfort Suites Hotel, located at 1200 Tonnelle Ave. in North Bergen.
According to Capt. Robert Dowd the victim, a resident of Claremont Avenue, allegedly text messaged his family saying he was going to end his life and was seen checking into the hotel in a very “distraught” state, said Dowd.
Dowd said the victim shot himself in the head before his family came to the hotel. He said that his family members discovered him in his hotel room and notified the police around 12:30 p.m.
Police are not releasing his name until they are certain that all of his family members are notified.
North Bergen Police and the Hudson County Homicide Unit responded to the scene.
