Funeral mass was offered Nov. 9 at Our Lady of Mercy Church for Joseph H. Doherty, 90. He died Nov. 6 in Compassionate Care Hospice at the Atrium. Born in Saugerties, NY, he lived in Jersey City many years. He retired in 1981 from the security department of American Express in New York City. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the husband of the late Frances ( Morley); the father of Patricia Maluchnik, Joanne Doherty, Joan Varney and Dennis Doherty; the grandfather of Stephanie O’Hagen, Walter Maluchnik, Sean Doherty and Christine DiFranco, and the great grandfather of Madison DiFranco.
