To the Editor:
Now that the political campaigns and elections are over, I would hope that all present and future candidates for office, regardless of party affiliation, will respect the property of our churches.
There was always an unwritten rule that campaign literature was not to be distributed on church property, since we do not endorse any candidate for office. But that rule seems to have gone by the wayside, since campaign material was distributed on our property during our annual feasts in September and the Sunday before the election on the cars parked on our lot while the people were inside worshipping. I certainly do not appreciate that this material is distributed without our knowledge or permission. It is also frustrating to know that our property is not respected enough to prevent distribution of this material.
While some campaign workers may be very zealous in their efforts to have their candidate elected, I would hope that each candidate would inform their workers that such material is not wanted nor allowed on our property.
Thank you.
