‘Anne Frank’ 50th Anniversary Screening at Loew’s

A 50th Anniversary screening of the classic movie, “The Diary of Anne Frank,” will take place Sunday, Nov. 15th at 3 p.m. at The Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theatre, 54 Journal Square.
Directed by Hollywood legend George Stevens, and starring Millie Perkins, Joseph Schildkraut, and Shelley Winters, this Oscar-winning adaptation of the award-winning stage play based on Anne Frank’s “The Diary of a Young Girl,” tells of the 13-year-old girl who hid from the Nazis in Amsterdam during World War II.
The screening also celebrates the 80th anniversary of Anne Frank’s birth. It will be hosted by George Stevens, Jr. and is presented by Friends of the Loew’s & Temple Beth-El of Jersey City and co-sponsored by the City of Jersey City.

Animal rescue group fundraiser

“A Call 4 Paws” animal rescue and sanctuary will hold its first major fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Moose Hall, 60 West Side Ave.
Tickets are $20 per person, which includes light buffet, beverages, and a sheet of raffle tickets.
“A Call 4 Paws” is a non-profit 501c3 organization that provides medical care as well as food and shelter for ailing homeless animals at their sanctuary in Jonestown, Pa.
There will be a live jazz band featuring a talented trumpet player John Eckert and fine vocalist Meg McLynn.
Also in attendance will be American Gold & Diamond Buyers, paying the highest prices for gold, diamonds, silver and platinum, watches, and antique and estate jewelry. And there will be over 100 raffles for Tricky Tray prizes, including a mini-laptop.

Jersey City Museum event

The Jersey City Museum will hold its first ever New Members Bash on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the museum, 350 Montgomery St.

There will be cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live music by The Moonlighters, and a Tricky Tray Art Raffle for some of the freshest, most affordable art around.
Tickets are only $65 each and $100 for two. In addition to the party, receive a full year of member benefits. New and renewing members are invited to take advantage of this special opportunity. Community Thanksgiving dinner

The Youth Partnership of Hudson County will be serving a Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, Nov. 14, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 38 Duncan Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

Volunteer Program at New Jersey Organ & Tissue Sharing Network

The NJ Sharing Network is a non-profit, federally designated organ procurement organization responsible for the recovery of organs and tissue for over 4,500 New Jersey residents currently awaiting transplantation, and is part of the national recovery system for over 104,000 people on organ waiting lists.
The NJ Sharing Network is enlisting a large base of volunteers, our Champions for Life, to carry out its community outreach programs. These volunteers regularly help educate the public about organ and tissue donation and transplantation by participating in community events, speaking at houses of worship, high schools, colleges and civic organizations, and encouraging local organizations and businesses to display brochures, literature and information.

Jersey City Library staff to appear on Wendy Williams Show

The Jersey City Free Public Library will appear live on The Wendy Williams Show on Monday, Nov. 9, with all participants introducing Wendy. The show airs daily at 10 a.m. on Fox 5 (WYNY-TV, Channel 5) and is repeated daily at 10 p.m. on My 9 (WWOR-TV, Channel 9).
Their appearance is the result of Library Director Priscilla Gardner deciding to record a video with some of the administrative staff – all giving their distinctive versions of “How YOU doin’?,” the signature greeting of nationally syndicated radio, and now TV personality, Wendy Williams.
Miller Assistant Branch Head Jason Sanders made the video on Oct. 20, with the following participants: Library Director Priscilla Gardner; Carolyn Armour, administrative assistant to the Library Director; Carl Shipman, Maintenance; Assistant Library Director Sonia Araujo; Finance Director Wayne Ponder; MIS Head Victor Enriquez; Assistant Library Director Dennis Hayes; and Patricia Dunn of the Business Office.
