Funeral mass was celebrated Nov. 4 at Holy Family Church, Union City, for Fr. Angel San Eufrasio, a member of the Order of Augustinian Recollects. He died at Palisades Hospital on All Saints’ Day, Nov. 1 at the age of 76. Angel was the director of the Centro Guadalupe on on 35th Street, Union City, since 2006, a center dedicated to the Hispanic Apostolate in the Archdiocese of Newark. Fr. Angel was born in Valtierra, Navarra, Spain, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1956. He went on to do advanced studies in Theology at the Gregorian University in Rome. He spent the first 14 years of his priestly life in the teaching and training of Augustinian Recollect Seminarians in Spain. From 1970 to the time of his death last Sunday evening he was engaged in a variety of pastoral activities in Italy, England and the United States. Fr. Angel was a jovial, kindhearted man motivated in all he did by a deep faith and joy-filled love for his God, the Order of Augustinian Recollects and the People of God that he served so selflessly for so many years. He is survived by two brothers and a sister (also an OAR Religious) and many nephews and nieces in Spain. Services arranged by the Morgado Funeral Home, Union City.
