At press time, the No. 1 Secaucus High School Patriots football team was scheduled to cap off their 2009 dream season with a Giants Stadium showdown against the No. 2 Cedar Grove Panthers this weekend.
The two teams were expected to square off for the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group I title on Friday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. The Patriots already had had a record book season. And to recognize the team for all its hard work this season, Secaucus was scheduled to honor its hometown heroes at the Dec. 5 annual tree lighting ceremony in the Plaza.
As the 11-0 Patriots hoped to rout the 10-1 Panthers, and they spent the week practicing drills and routines designed to stop Cedar Grove from making big plays in the air.
On Tuesday, the Reporter caught one of the team’s last rehearsals before game day for a photo session.
