Firemen’s Parade lifts spirits

Local departments give North Hudson an early holiday treat

As the sun set on Wednesday night and the wind chill made it feel below freezing, the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue braved the weather – like they do every year – for their annual Firemen’s Parade.
The parade is always a special event for residents of North Bergen, Guttenberg, Union City, West New York and Weehawken, which the Regional covers.

_____________

The annual North Hudson Firemen’s Parade was last week..
________

The parade started on 85th Street in North Bergen and finished on 32nd Street in Union City.
The North Hudson Firefighters Association organizes the parade each year, not only receiving sponsors from municipalities and local businesses for the floats, but inviting other fire services in surrounding communities to participate.
In addition to NHRFR trucks, Bayonne’s Fire Canteen, Teaneck’s Box 45 Special Services, the Cliffside Park Fire Department, the Edgewater Fire Department and the Lyndhurst Fire Department participated.
Even in a difficult economy, the parade went on and put smiles on many residents’ faces.
