Funeral mass was offered Feb. 12 at St. Lawrence Church for William Applegate, formerly of New York City. He passed away Feb. 7. He was a U.S. Navy veteran in both World War II and Korea, returning with a Purple Heart. William became very active in American Legion Post 18, serving as commander as well as being active in Oulton Post 1923, VFW, finding time as well to be a member of Weehawken Elks Lodge 1456 in Weehawken, honored as Past Officer of the Year. For 35 years, he was a member of Teamsters Local 817 in the theatrical world in New York, retiring in 1987. He was the husband of the late Yolanda (Silvestry); the father of William C. Applegate and wife Mary Ann, Barbara Britten and husband James, Patricia Litchfield and husband Harry, and Susan Borthwick and husband Ed; the brother of the late Margaret Aquino and brother-in-law of Olga Jensen; the grandfather of Ross Britten, Joseph Applegate, James Britten, Samantha Litchfield, Elyse Applegate, Eddy Borthwick, Harry Litchfield, Steven Borthwick and Julie Borthwick and great grandfather of Abigail, Jaylin and Joslyn Applegate.
