A whole lot of food

Shawn O’Donnell, 29, of 31st Street in Bayonne, was detained by ShopRite security about 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 after he allegedly tried to steer a shopping cart full of unpaid for groceries out of the store.
The value of the groceries was placed at $875.75 and allegedly included 14 bags of shrimp, 16 packages of Power Bars, 25 deodorants, 7 packages of spare ribs, 4 packages of London broil steaks, and 10 packages of porterhouse steaks and other items.
O’Donnell was charged with shoplifting.

Clothing theft alleged

Benorie Zayzay, a 27-year-old Staten Island woman, was charged with shoplifting on Feb. 27 after she allegedly tried to take $189 worth of clothing from AJ Wright.
Store security told police they observed Zayzay allegedly putting footwear, nail polish, four hand bags, and four hats in a shopping bag.
That wasn’t the only incident at the store.
On March 3, police were called to AJ Wright after store security allegedly apprehended Detrad Pattern, a 26-year-old Irvington resident who had allegedly put two wallets valued at $21.71 into her jacket. Pattern was charged with shoplifting.

Four caught without tickets

Raymond Redd, 21, of Kearny Avenue in Jersey City, was charged with theft of services on March 1 after police stopped him at the 22nd Street station of the Hudson County Bergen Light Rail line and he allegedly failed to provide a valid ticket. A check for outstanding warrants, the police said, showed that he allegedly owed $258 in unpaid tickets to Union City, and $100 to Jersey City.
On March 2, police charged Jason Riofiro, 19, of Liberty Avenue in Jersey City, with theft of services after he allegedly could not produce a valid ticket. The police said he allegedly had an outstanding warrant from Jersey City for $1,000 in unpaid fines.
Robert Mulewski, 23, of 53rd Street in Bayonne, was charged with theft of services on March 2 after he was stopped at the 34th Street station and allegedly could not provide a ticket. Mulewski also had an unpaid fine of $83 to the Bayonne Municipal Court, and police said a search found Mulewski allegedly in possession of marijuana, police said.1
On March 3, police arrested Charles Clinton, 22, of Oak Street in Jersey City, for allegedly failing to have a ticket, allegedly having outstanding Jersey City warrants for about $200, and alleged possession of marijuana.

A change of price

Alan Paredes, 32, of Lexington Avenue in Jersey City was charged with shoplifting on Feb. 25 after he allegedly changed prices on packages of meat before paying the lower price at the check out counter. The police said store security observed Paredes allegedly replacing the prices on the packages of meat, and then waited for him at the check out counter when he allegedly tried to leave with London broil and loin chops valued at $17.71 after paying $4.34 less than the actual value.
Police said a background check revealed that Paredes allegedly had outstanding warrants for his arrest, which include $15,873 due in Superior Court fines, $750 due to Bayonne Municipal Court, and $250 due to Union City Municipal Court.

A close shave?

Angela Green, 42, of Fulton Avenue in Jersey City, was charged with shoplifting on Feb. 26 after she allegedly attempted to take $156.22 worth of shaving razors from the Rite Aid store at 752 Broadway.
Store security reported to police that they saw Green allegedly putting six packs of razors into her purse before trying to exit the store without paying for them.
A background check revealed that Green allegedly had outstanding warrants that included $1,515 to Superior Court, $591 in unpaid fines to Jersey City court, and $1,000 in other unpaid fines in Hudson County.
