SECAUCUS —Seven candidates filed petitions Monday to fill three spots on the Secaucus School Board. The School Board election will be held on April 20.
The candidates who filed to run for election are: Patricia Belenski, Joseph Hughes, Joseph Lewis, Salvatore Manente, Francis O’Keefe, and current School Board President John “Jack” McStowe. Michele Impreveduto, one candidate who filed before Monday’s deadline, pulled out of the race today.
McStowe, who is completing his first term on the school board, is the only incumbent running for reelection. Two other incumbents, Frank Trombetta and Anthony Gerbasio, chose not to run for reelection.
The election is to fill three seats on the nine-member board. Members serve three-year terms. The responsibilities of board members include voting on school policy and approving annually the school district budget. – E. Assata Wright
